The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado on the ground 13 miles west of Owatonna, near Waseca, Minnesota. At 8:21 p.m. There were no reports of significant damage. A tornado warning that was issued for south-central Minnesota expired before 8:45 p.m., and other warnings closer to the Twin Cities metro expired by 9:45 p.m. As of Monday, there was little to no damage, so it would be classified as an EF-0. However, there is speculation that these may have just been “gustnadoes” on the leading edge of a shelf cloud. These tornado warnings were the first closest ones of the season, providing a little reminder of the type of storms we can get here in the state of Minnesota.
