A Slick Start to Monday

BRIEFING: Freezing rain is expected to make its way into the state around 9 PM and create some icy conditions for the Monday morning commute. This will mainly affect driving with no risks of power outages or tree damage.

TOTALS: Below is the total ice accumulation map from the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities. Areas down towards Mankato could see up to a quarter of an inch of ice in some areas.

IMPACTS: The impact of this storm is the near .10” of an inch of ice expected for a portion of the Central Minnesota area. We will remain snowless from this storm as the snow will stay off towards the north for areas including Saint Cloud.

TIMING: The freezing rain is expected to enter after 9 PM Sunday evening, lasting through roughly 6 AM.

DRIVING CONCERNS: The Monday Morning commute will be affected by this storm with the icy roads. Most plows will be out-treating the roads the night before and the morning of to lessen the impact. Drive with caution!
