4 Confirmed Tornadoes Across MN from Friday’s Storms

The National Weather Service has confirmed four tornado touchdowns from Friday’s storms in Minnesota.

These tornadoes impacted the cities of Burnsville, Apple Valley, Savage, and Le Sueur. Thankfully, all of these touchdowns were rated as an EF0 on the Enhanced Fujita (EF) Scale, which is the lowest category. The graphic below shows the different levels on the EF scale that a tornado can be categorized as.

According to the National Weather Service, a tornado touched down near Highway 13 and Connelly Parkway and moved east for 2.1 miles. Most damage from this tornado was due to trees falling onto houses and vehicles. Roof damage also occurred at Savage Public Works, and a light standard was bent at a baseball field. In Apple Valley, a tornado touched down near Cedar Avenue and 145th St. W. Most damage again was due to trees falling onto houses and vehicles. The tornado that occurred in North East Burnsville touched down near Highway 13 and Cliff Road. Again, most of the damage with this tornado was due to trees falling on houses and vehicles. In Le Sueur, a tornado touched down and tracked mostly through a cornfield and knocked down large branches in a grove of trees. The graphics below show the path of all four tornadoes from early Friday morning. The blue triangles and lines indicate the damage points and path of the tornadic damage surveyed. The green dots indicated damage that was either inconclusive or determined not to be tornadic.
