The doors to 2015 have been closed and the door to 2016 has been opened, after a brown Christmas and a warm December, let’s take a look at what’s average for this time of the year.
AVERAGE TEMPS & SNOW:
Typically, in the metro, we get about 12.2″ of snow. Our record year with the most snow in January was 1982, where we had 46.4″. Our average high is about 24°, and our average low is 7°. We have had some years where we have had warmer temperatures than that, back in 1944 we had a high of 58°. In 1888, we had a record low of -41°.
MONTHLY AVERAGES:
We will start the month with average temps near 24° and end the month with average highs at 25°. Average lows for January will start at 8° and end at 8°.
JANUARY OUTLOOK:
According to NOAA, we will have warmer-than-average temperatures and an equal chance for precipitation this month.
