Severe Weather Threat For Saturday

Saturday will surely be a busy day as we make a switch from the hot and humid weather to stormy conditions in the afternoon. This blog will have the SPC outlook, heat index numbers, and heat advisory details.

 

SPC OUTLOOK:

The Storm  Prediction Center has put most of the state in some kind of threat zone. The metro area and northwest areas are at an Enhanced Risk of Severe Weather. The areas in yellow are under a slight risk of severe weather. Wind and hail look to be our biggest threats, with a chance of tornadoes not out of the question.

HEAT INDEX:

Our dew points will be in the 70s today, which will make our already hot temperatures feel a lot hotter. It’s possible to get heat index values in the mid-90s to low 100s.

HEAT ADVISORY:

The National Weather Service has put the entire metro and surrounding areas in a Heat Advisory until 6 PM Saturday. This advisory is due to the heat index values approaching 100°.

STORM TIMING:

The storms will be moving from west to east today and will be in the area anywhere between 3 PM and 10 PM.
