Big Time Snow For Some On Tuesday

A winter storm is expected to create heavy snow for some, with potential blizzard conditions for areas in southern Minnesota. This blog will detail where the alerts are, along with the expected totals from this snowstorm.

WEATHER ALERTS:

The areas in green are under a Blizzard Watch, which stays in effect through late Tuesday night. The areas in blue are under a winter storm watch which remains in effect through late Tuesday night.

NWS PREDICTED SNOWFALL:

As of late Sunday afternoon, expected snowfall totals from the National Weather Service are between 2″ – 3″ in the metro, with lesser amounts north-west of the metro. Notice the orange colors near parts of southeastern Minnesota into Wisconsin, which is an area that could pick up between 8″ – 12″ of snow.

STORM TRACK:

Below is the predicted storm track from the Weather Prediction Center. You can see that the low-pressure system that will cause this storm starts off towards Nevada and goes through Oklahoma before it finally makes a stop in the Michigan area.

WINDS ON TUESDAY:

With the storm affecting parts of the state on Tuesday, the winds will also be picking up. Wind gusts in the metro area could easily reach 25 MPH at times. With that said, any snow that does fall will be blown around in some areas.
