Strong to severe thunderstorms will move into West Central Minnesota this evening and towards Wisconision around midnight. Check out below for the main impacts, timing, and severe awareness tips.
WHAT’S GOING ON?:
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, has put the Twin Cities at an Enhanced Risk of Severe Weather. This area included areas from Brainerd down towards Lakeville and stretches from Willmar to Eau Claire, WI. This area will have the biggest risk of severe weather this evening. A Slight Risk of Severe Weather has also been placed for almost the entire state (areas in yellow). This area will also see severe weather chances this evening. The map below will show the Storm Prediction Center outlook for Monday. The other maps show the Hail and Wind risk from this storm.
STORM IMPACTS:
Damaging winds of 60 MPH or more are possible with this storm. Large hail, isolated tornadoes, and heavy rain also have a potential impact this evening into early Tuesday morning. The maps below show the impact levels for hail, tornadoes, and damaging winds.
STORM TIMING:
Timing for this storm will be mainly in the evening into the early hours on Tuesday. Western Minnesota will see storms between 8 PM and 12 AM, Central Minnesota will be impacted around 9 PM and 2 AM, and Eastern Minnesota will be impacted at around 10 PM and 4 AM.
